Business focused qualifications benefits all
The Parmalat management team has for many years considered it important to provide appropriate learning and development for their people. They have always recognized the need for skills training, and also the important area of people management. They recognize that the success of their business is linked to the skill of their people.
Originally Australia-wide Business Training (awbt) provided a Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management). The program, undertaken as a series of workshops, was enthusiastically received. Most people felt they had learned so much that they wanted to continue – upgrading their Certificate IV to a Diploma.
The participant feedback was so positive that the program was booked again for the following year, with double the numbers, then the next, and the next! The second year of the program saw the commitment change from a Certificate IV to a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) and it continues on at Diploma level. The program is now in its sixth year and some 120 people have completed the course.
awbt was able to demonstrate its flexible approach to assessment by incorporating the individual’s Business Plan as the core element for their final assessment.
The use of the Business Plan as a project was a great success for everyone. It meant that the participants on the course were not only learning and developing new skills but were using a very business focused activity to apply that learning – one which had positive outcomes for Parmalat and for the participant.
And they received a nationally recognized qualification as well!
